A Child for Baptism
Firstly, we want to congratulate you on the birth of your child. We also want to welcome this new born child into our Parish Community.
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission.
Parents are the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith. Baptism preparation is an effort to help them in that role. Your child's Baptism will be a special moment for you and your family. It will also be a special moment for our parish as we welcome your child into the Christian Community.
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated most Saturday evenings and occasional Sunday afternoons in our Churches. Use the links below to check the Parish Baptism Calendar for availability.
St. Patrick's Church, Pennyburn
You will be asked to provide some details of the child for Baptism, their parents and Godparents.
Children for Baptism require only one Godparent; if you have two, one must be male and one must be female. All Godparents must be at least 16 years of age and a practising Catholic.
When you register your child for a Baptism Ceremony you will receive an email inviting you to a Baptism Preparation Course that must be undertaken prior to the Baptism Ceremony.
