Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation into the Church, along with Baptism and Holy Communion. Through Confirmation, Catholics receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which strengthens and deepens the graces first received at Baptism. This sacrament not only builds on those initial graces but also seals and amplifies them. Like all sacraments, the more we open our hearts, minds, and lives to it, the more transformative its effect will be.

The graces received in Confirmation are known as the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, courage, reverence, right judgment, and awe of the Lord. The term "fear of the Lord" refers to the deep respect and awe we should have for God, our Creator.

In our parish, children typically receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in Primary 7. The schools partner with parents to help prepare the children for this important step, and those preparing for Confirmation take part in the "Life in the Spirit" program. As part of this program, the children participate in a special way in Sunday Mass in the weeks leading up to their Confirmation.
