Holy Communion
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. But why is it so important, and why should we make the effort to attend Mass every Sunday?
In the Mass, Jesus invites us to deepen our relationship with Him. When we receive Him in Holy Communion, we welcome Him as the guest of our souls. During the consecration, the bread and wine on the altar are truly transformed into the real Body and Blood of Jesus. This is not a symbol or metaphor—it is a reality. At the Last Supper, Jesus Himself said, "This is my body... this is my blood."
Preparation for First Holy Communion
Children in Primary Four begin preparing to receive their First Holy Communion, marking a significant milestone in their journey of faith. This is an important year not only for the children but also for their parents or guardians, teachers, and our parish community. Alongside Baptism and Confirmation, First Holy Communion is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation into the Church.
The best way to prepare your child for this sacred event is by bringing them to Mass every Sunday and praying with them daily. Children are more likely to follow your example than your words. If you pray, they will learn to pray. If you attend Mass, they will grow to do the same. Your own faith will inspire them to become people of faith, guided by a moral compass that will lead them to Jesus throughout their lives.
At the Parish of The Three Patrons, we work closely with your child’s school and run the “Do This in Memory” program. This program encourages children preparing for First Holy Communion to participate in a special way at Sunday Mass in the months leading up to their reception of the sacrament.
